Welcome Message from the President

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the Nutrition Society of
Bangladesh (NSB).

Established on March 26, 1971, the Nutrition Society of Bangladesh is one of the oldest
professional nutrition organizations in the country, dedicated to advancing nutrition
science, research, education, policy dialogue, advocacy and public health nutrition.
Since its establishment, NSB has been working as a national platform for nutrition
scientists, researchers, academicians, public health professionals, policymakers,
development partners and students committed to improving the nutritional well-being of
the people of Bangladesh.

Nutrition is central to human development, health, productivity and national progress.
Bangladesh has made remarkable achievements in health and nutrition; however,
challenges such as maternal and child undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies,
overweight and obesity, non-communicable diseases, food safety, climate change and
nutrition-sensitive development continue to require strong scientific leadership and
coordinated action.

NSB is committed to promoting evidence-based nutrition practices, supporting research
dissemination, strengthening professional capacity, encouraging young nutrition
professionals and contributing technical expertise to national nutrition policies and
programmes. As the official Adhering Body of the International Union of Nutritional
Sciences (IUNS) for Bangladesh and an affiliated body of the Federation of Asian
Nutrition Societies (FANS), NSB also represents Bangladesh in the regional and global
nutrition science community.

NSB especially encourages the participation of the young generation, including students, early-career researchers and young professionals. Through NSB
membership, young members can benefit from scientific seminars, conferences, workshops, training opportunities, research presentation platforms, professional networking, mentorship, access to nutrition experts, opportunities for publication and research dissemination, and engagement in national and international nutrition forums. These opportunities will help young professionals develop leadership, scientific skills and professional confidence in the field of nutrition.

This website has been developed to share information about NSB’s activities, scientific events, publications, membership, collaborations and upcoming initiatives. I hope it will serve as an effective platform for knowledge sharing, professional networking and collective action for advancing nutrition in Bangladesh.

On behalf of the Nutrition Society of Bangladesh, I invite nutrition professionals, researchers, students, institutions and development partners to join hands with NSB in promoting science-based nutrition actions for a healthier Bangladesh.
